Beginning NetBeans

Geertjan Wielenga (NetBeans product manager) wrote a book about the NetBeans IDE. When NetBeans 8.1 was released, my review German review about his book had been published [1]. Now, I found some time to write an English review, too. Read about it on my review site [2].

Java Lambdas and (parallel) Streams

Last month, Geertjan and me talked at JUG Cologne. After he presented new NetBeans features, I talked about Java Lambdas and (parallel) Streams. On the same day, I presented my book about this issue. Unlike my JSF book, I wrote about this matter in German.

If you missed some fresh articles about JSF or NetBeans on this blog, there is a simple reason: During the last weeks, I translated my book into English. And it became ready last weekend.

I’m proud to announce my new book “Java Lambdas and (parallel) Streams”.

Interview with Arun Gupta (English original)

In the occasion of his new book “Java EE 6 pocket Guide”, I hold a short interview with the author, Arun Gupta. My book-review is going to be publiched in Java Magazin 05.2013.

Here the original version of the interview is:

Hi Arun, you just published “Java EE 6 Pocket Guide”. Java EE 6 became alive three years ago and many books have been published since. What was your intention to write such a book right now? Continue reading “Interview with Arun Gupta (English original)”

Interview with Arun Gupta

Arun Gupta published his book “Java EE 6 Pocket Guide”. I asked him some questions about this book and his intentions. The full interview is published by JAXenter [1]. Maybe they will publish the original English version on their English site too.

JPA and Multilingual booklist

Take a look at my book list at it-rezension.de. You may recognize the buttons for the different languages. Most books are described with German texts, but some have English description too (and there will be more soon).

The business rule is: Display text in choosen language. If there is no such text, then display the text in default language (wich is German). Continue reading “JPA and Multilingual booklist”

Glutted about eBook reader

I’m owning a PDA / Smartphone (XPERIA pro) of Sony Ericson. You may read books with it, but only landscape. You’ll see only a 1/4 to 1/3 of the page. Not very comfortable. I’m a frequent reader and wanted to shrink some big books into a handy format. Thus, I ordered a Sony PRS-T1, which was reported to be one of the best readers. I hoped to reade whole pages on a mobile device.

Then I became disappointed: Continue reading “Glutted about eBook reader”

Interactive book list

Its not really ready, the interactive book list containing my reviews. Anyhow, I decided to go online with a kind of preview: it-rezension.de. Developed as JSF-Application using NetBeans, I’ll report about the internals. The first of this series was my last article about a simplified language switcher. More will follow.

Reviews online

After some of my write-ups had been published by diverse magazines, one publisher send me a note that they puplished a review online too. Recently I discovered some more of my reviews published in the web. What a pitty! I had not been informedsurprise.

Since these reviews are written in German I first linked my German pages to these reviews. You may open the book menu and switch to German. The English pages will be updated as soon as I get some time to do it.
